Tough Guy (Rachel Reid, 2020)

Quem é o Tough Guy do livro?

Ryan Price, claro.

September 2018
“Are you happy?”
Ryan Price couldn’t tell if Coach Cooper was asking the question of him, or of the computer the man hadn’t taken his eyes from. The honest answer was that Ryan couldn’t quite recall what happiness felt like, but that would be an awkward thing to admit, so instead he just said, “Sure.”

Ryan was pretty sure he had an ugly dick.

Ryan's dick was thick and red, and the hair that surrounded it was even more red. He tried to keep on top of grooming the area, but his pubic hair was as unruly as the hair that covered his head and face. His balls seemed too large and kind of saggy. His dick poked out of a lumpy sleeve of foreskin. The head was fat and dark, and a very prominent vein wrapped around his shaft. And, unlike the dude in the video he was watching, Ryan took forever to come. He had always been a little slow at sex, but getting off had taken a lot of extra effort the past year or so. He knew it was at least partially the fault of his anxiety meds.

Ah, sim, horroroso o pau dele

And that's how Ryan had flown under the radar as a sexually active gay NHL player for nearly a decade. And now, in this new era where Scott Hunter was kissing his boyfriend on live television after winning the Stanley Cup, it didn't seem as necessary to hide. Hunter had been brave enough to come out first, and now being a queer NHL player was barely interesting. One of Vancouver's goaltenders married his longtime boyfriend over the summer—a rugged older man who built cabins for a living. And a Swedish guy who played for Los Angeles had started posting photos on Instagram of him and his boyfriend, who was a model. Or an Instagram model. Or something. He was a ripped hot guy anyway.

Scott Hunter, A Madonna da NHL

Ryan's hand was loosely holding his softening dick, unmoving. Damn it. He'd gotten distracted. It was over. He released his dick and it slumped, exhausted, against his thigh. He closed the video and slammed his laptop shut. Stupid fucking meds. Stupid fucking anxiety. Stupid fucking porn stars and their perfect functional dicks.

Interessante o foco nas questões desse personagem

"Just talking. We're friends. We're not..." Ryan shifted so he was sitting more upright against the headboard. "He's way out of my league." Her eyes narrowed. "Way out of your league how? You are literally a star athlete and a millionaire." "Yeah, but he's beautiful. And charming. And has a ton of friends who all do interesting things. And he plays music that's, like, the most amazing thing I've ever heard."

Autoestima no chão

"And... okay. This is the thing I kind of can't forget about. I had this recital. An end-of-year thing at the conservatory. My sister had a playoff game that night, so my whole family went to that instead." "Yeah, well, of course," Vanessa said flatly. "Who gives a shit about their insanely musically talented son when there's a hockey game to go to?" "Right. So the thing is, no one in my family was at my recital. But Ryan was." Vanessa covered her mouth with both hands. "Fuck. Off!" Fabian's cheeks heated. "I know." "That is the sweetest thing I have ever heard," Tarek said. Fabian's belly fluttered at the memory of spotting Ryan Price at the back of the auditorium. "I couldn't believe he was there."

The other interesting thing was that this was the first time Toronto had played against Ottawa since the former Boston superstar, Ilya Rozanov, had signed with them over the summer. The first period had barely made it to the five-minute mark when Rozanov started getting into it with Dallas Kent. Both players were known for their trash talk as much as their goal scoring ability, but neither of them was much good at finishing what they started. That was Ryan's job. Rozanov had just very obviously shoved Kent during a stoppage in play. The officials either hadn't seen it, or were choosing to ignore it. Ryan skated over to where the two superstars were shouting at each other and very halfheartedly pulled Rozanov away from Kent. Rozanov turned and beamed at Ryan like he was delighted to see him. "Price! Thank god you are here. This goblin is bothering me." Ryan pressed his lips together. Goblin was an amusingly accurate description of Dallas Kent.

Ilya Rozanov!!!!!

Ryan couldn't honestly remember the last time sex had been fun for him. The rare times over the past few years that he'd actually had sex, it was more or less an act of desperation, especially if it involved another person. Even with the men he'd had relationships with, the sex had always been stressful for Ryan. Performance anxiety, his own body issues, and being completely unsure of what to say, or what his partner wanted from him, had always tripped him up. Jerking off was just easier. Or, at least, it had been, before he'd started taking the meds.

Ryan took a sip of wine, because he didn't know what else to do. "It's good," he said. "The wine, I mean." It could be terrible. It could be actual battery acid. Ryan's brain was in a million pieces right now. Why was he here? Why were they both on Fabian's bed? Was Fabian trying to seduce him? Did Ryan want him to?

Acho que gosto dos pensamentos ansiosos dele

Fabian flopped onto his back and draped an arm over his eyes. "Ryan. I had a huge teenage crush on you, okay? I'd rather not dwell on it, because it's embarrassing, but yes. I wanted to kiss your adorable mouth when I was seventeen. If I had thought there was even a chance you would have been into that, I would have done it." Ryan sat up. "What?" "I didn't think you were gay, Ryan. Of course I didn't." "I would have kissed you." "Well, yes. I do realize that now." "I wanted to kiss you. Do you remember—" Fabian lifted his arm enough to peek out from under it. "The ferry. Yes. I've replayed that moment a few times over the years. So it was real, was it?" Ryan nodded. "It was real." Fabian covered his eyes again. "Damn. That would have been one hell of a first kiss."

Eu to gostando da construção do amor entre eles

He stood and set his wine glass on the desk. "I'm gonna head out." "It's still raining." Was Fabian pouting? "I'm waterproof." Fabian stepped into his space, crowding him against the desk. "I don't understand." Ryan closed his eyes, because he couldn't possibly say what he needed to if every sense was full of Fabian. "I'm no good for you. It's nice of you to—" "Don't. You're not a fucking charity case, Ryan. I want you. Did you already forget the part about wanting to kiss you since I was seventeen?" "That's just teenage hormones. It's not—I can't. I can't do this with you. I'm sorry." He couldn't. If he took this any further with Fabian, he would never forgive himself. More than that, Ryan would never recover from it. He was excited about being friends with Fabian, but he would give it all up rather than risk smothering him. He wanted Fabian too much to just have casual sex with him. He wasn't much for casual sex anyway, but he absolutely couldn't have a one-night stand with Fabian Salah. Ryan knew there were plenty of people who would happily fool around with an attractive friend while waiting for a rainstorm to pass by, but he wasn't one of them. Having sex with Fabian—even kissing Fabian again—would mean too much to Ryan. Much more than it would to Fabian. "Can I have my coat?" "Of course," Fabian said. His voice was clipped and angry. He stepped away from Ryan and grabbed his coat off the hook by the door. He thrust it at him. "Here." "I'm sorry," Ryan said again. He didn't know what else to say. Fabian held up a hand. "I get it. I feel like an idiot, but I get it." "You aren't—" Oh god, there were tears in Fabian's eyes. "Goodbye, Ryan."

Ryan smiled back, but he still looked unsure of what to do next. Fabian figured he would be the one leading this dance, so he let his body find the rhythm of the pounding Robyn remix. Ryan tried to move with him, and he was definitely awkward. His eyes darted around, as if searching for people judging him.

Robyn <3

His nerves had returned during their walk, once he'd gotten the pressing need to kiss Fabian out of the way. Now that they'd made it home, he had no idea what to do next.

Foi meio esquisito a mudança repentina

"When are you touring?" Vanessa asked. "There's a middle-of-winter music festival in Kingston that I've been invited to play. I thought I'd build a little tour around it. I could just take trains instead driving myself around Ontario in February." "Um, you're not going alone," she said. "I can be careful!" "Fabian," Tarek warned, "at least find another musician to tour with." Fabian wanted to argue, but he knew his friends were right to worry. "I'll ask around," he promised. "Maybe my label wants to pair me up with someone." "Maybe Ryan wants to be your roadie," Marcus said.

Será que Fabian estará em perigo?

"What's going on?" he asked Wyatt. "Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov are hosting a press conference. They just announced this new charity thing they are starting." "What, together?" Wyatt laughed. "Wild, right? I guess anyone can put their differences aside if those two can." Hollander and Rozanov were famously bitter rivals and had been for years. They were two of the biggest stars in the league—Hollander for Montreal, and Rozanov for Boston before he signed with Ottawa over the summer—and, as far as Ryan or anyone else knew, were not friendly off the ice. "I guess they're friends or something," Wyatt said. "That's what Hollander said today anyway. That's going to blow some minds." "Yeah." They watched as Rozanov shared some heartfelt words about his mother losing her battle with depression.

Rozanov!

Wyatt elbowed Ryan. "I wish I had a video of that." "Should have done that a long time ago." Ryan's heart was racing now, but he felt good. It was more like adrenaline and less like fear or panic. "That shit isn't going to fly for much longer in this league. Not when one of the biggest stars in the game is out." It was true that Scott Hunter coming out the same season he had won the Stanley Cup, the Conn Smythe Trophy for playoff MVP, and the Hart Trophy for regular season MVP had taken a lot of the wind out of the sails of the argument that hockey was a sport for straight men only. But obviously there was still work to be done. It was time for Ryan to step up and do some of it.

Hunter!

Fabian covered his mouth with his hand, but forced himself to watch the screen. So he saw what happened next. "Holy shit!" Tarek said. "I don't know shit about hockey, but I am pretty sure you're not allowed to do that." Fabian knew enough about hockey to know that headbutting was not a normal part of the game. He knew enough about pain to know that Ryan must be in a lot of it right now. For a second, Ryan's face changed into something Fabian didn't recognize. It was dark and intense and terrifying. "Oh my god," Fabian said hoarsely. "Ryan, don't." As if Ryan could hear him, his face immediately softened, and he skated away as the other man was dragged off the ice by some of the officials.

Tosco

"When you walked into the store where I work, I was shocked. And then..." Fabian turned in Ryan's arms to face him. "I had this overwhelming feeling of relief. Like this was what I'd been waiting for. This was what was missing. You."

Tosco

"I know. I'm excited about it. And Lisa already has a lead on a job at a hospital in Ottawa, so that should work out too."

Nossa que rapido

"I know. The enemy, right?" "You'll get to play with Rozanov. You still have a crush on him?" Wyatt laughed. "Maybe I can get to the bottom of this mystery friendship he has with Shane Hollander." "Don't be nosy."

Rozanov

"So what sorts of things have you been doing together?" Mom asked. Fabian was glad he didn't blush easily. "Just stuff. He comes to my shows. He's hung out with my friends. He's nice. We get along." "Have you been to any games?" Sonia asked. "If you can get free Guardians tickets and you're not taking them, I'm going to scream." "I've never asked," Fabian said truthfully. He felt suddenly guilty about that. Should he feel guilty about that? Sonia made a noise that Fabian interpreted as God, my brother is such a fucking weirdo. He couldn't ignore that one. "What, Sonia?" "Nothing. I just can't believe he's friends with you. It doesn't make any sense." "Well," Mom said. "He's always been a little odd, hasn't he?" "He definitely has a history of strange behavior," Dad agreed. "And there was that thing that happened last year." Fabian couldn't stop himself. "What thing?" Sonia laughed. "Oh my god. You don't even know, do you? He had a total fucking meltdown." "During a game!" her stupid husband, Paul, added. "On the bench. He just... freaked out and had to leave the game. I heard he stripped naked and was screaming about bugs living in his brain or something." "Could be drugs," Mom said. "Some players just can't handle the pressure. They become addicts."

"I'll fuck you like that," Ryan grunted. "When I'm healed up, I'll fuck you as hard as you want." "Yes please. God, I'm close." "Tell me the rest." Ryan sounded like he was begging. "Please, fuck. How does it end?"

Tosco

I'm not walking away from an NHL career, Fabian. I'm not that stupid." "I told you about the symphony," Fabian argued. Fabian hated how bitter Ryan's answering laugh was. "Yeah. But guess what? I can't quit the NHL and become an independent hockey player. So I'm glad you got to do music your way, but I don't have that option."

Nossa Fabian, que tosco

If Fabian stayed, nothing would change. Walking out the door right now might break his heart, but not as much as watching Ryan destroying himself would. "I can't do this," he said in a tiny voice. "I thought I could, but I can't. You're right, I don't understand." He let out a shuddering breath. "I just don't. I never will." "Don't." Ryan was crying now too, which Fabian couldn't stand to see. He turned toward the door. "Please."

Ridículo

He'd also started asking for sleeping pills. Every second he wasn't focused on his back pain, he was overcome by the agony of his shattered heart.

Someone sat next to Ryan. Not at the end of the same row, but right next to Ryan. He glanced over and was surprised to see who it was. "Hey, Price." "Rozanov. Shouldn't you be at the All-Star game?" Ilya shrugged. "There will be others." Did Ilya even know Duncan Harvey? He'd never played with him. It seemed bizarre that he was here.

God, he hoped Ryan was all right. Fabian should have been more patient with him. Leaving him the way he had couldn't have been helpful, and he had been worried for weeks that Ryan may have spiraled as a result. Fabian had considered reaching out to him before this show, but he hadn't been able to make himself do it. Some part of him still thought their relationship was impossible, no matter how he felt about Ryan.

Totalmente descabido

But then he saw him. Huge and gorgeous and real. And wearing the scarf Fabian had given him for Christmas. "Hi," Ryan said. Fabian didn't say anything. He just wrapped his arms around him and held on as tight as he could. A second later, Ryan returned the hug, wrapping his strong arms around him and pulling him close. "Good show," Ryan said.

Tosco demais

Ryan had been uncertain about going to Fabian's show, but he knew he had to at least try. He literally had nothing left to lose. When he saw Fabian onstage, wearing his necklace, Ryan's heart had lifted. Fabian couldn't completely be done with him if he was wearing his present to such an important show.

Eu acharia uma merda

"No. I won't tell anyone. That you're, um..." "Making out at work? Yes. That would be bad," Ilya said with an amused grin. Shane looked like he would never smile again. "I don't know what I see in you," Shane grumbled. "Yes. You say that every day."

Tossssssco demais
